New Year, New Shows, New Songs

In a few days, 2009 will be over and 2010 will be upon us. We have some upcoming shows to announce...

1. January 9 @ 10pm - we will be performing at the 'Dead of Winter Carnival' for the Gothic Art and Music Festival in Phillipsburg, NJ at the Riverview Arts Center. [see the flyer below for $2 off admission].

2. January 23 @ 10pm - we will be playing at Muralhas Underground in Newark, NJ with Methodical in association with Kaza Rock Productions.

We'll be booking more shows as the year proceeds.

In addition to these exciting shows, we're happy to announce that we will debut our very first original song at the January 9 show!!! So for those of you who have enjoyed our tributes to the wonderful bands such as Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Epica and others, and have wondered what our 'own' sound would be like, here's your chance to get a sneak peak at the Original Luminis!

In the meantime, we have started recording for a 4 song demo which we will post to MySpace and other sites once it's finished. Right now the drums are done. Look out for the release of that in the early part of 2010!!!

See you at the shows!

News and Upcoming Show Announcements

We have some news and show dates to announce! Luminis has reformed after a sudden disruption of its lineup. Although, this was done so quickly, you may not even have noticed. But check out our newest members, Steve on drums, and Anthony on bass guitar at our website: www.luminisband.com or our MySpace page: www.myspace.com/luminis.

We have also uploaded 2 new song demos, which you can find on our MySpace page as well: 'Nemo' - a Nightwish cover and 'Never Enough' - an Epica cover.

While we were in the process of reforming the full band, Islam and I [Tara] continued to work on the 'softer side' of Luminis, adding songs to our acoustic setlist. We played one acoustic show this summer at The Cup in Linden, in which we received many good compliments! We'll be playing one more acoustic show tonight and then we'll be gearing up for a string of full-band shows starting August 28th. This will be our first show as a whole band with the new lineup.

We hope you can make it out to one or some of these shows. We've added some songs you'll love and will rock harder than ever before!

Till then -
Thanks for reading :)

Axis Lounge show

Our show at Axis Lounge this past Friday night went smoothly. It was our first time using programming for keys and synths and it worked out very well. We really enjoyed playing this show with the other great bands (Prime Prophecy, Powervalve, & Bleed the Fifth).

We’d like to thank everyone who came out for this show and Axis Lounge for having us. Hope to be back again soon!

Our next show is this coming Friday, May 29th at The Cup in Linden, supporting Mr. Shickadance. Hope to see you there!

Recreating Epica!

Hello all, this is Tara from Luminis. We’ll be posting our ’stuff’ here for anyone interested in our adventures in the process of recreating the best femme metal bands.

Right now, we are in the process of creating keyboard/synth programming tracks for live usage. I’ve been working with my vocal coach (also producer) Perry Montauredes [perrymontauredes.com], to recreate the sounds needed for our live performances of Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation and others. It has been so much fun and the progress is coming along so nicely. In the process, I have learned a great deal on programming with Cubase. What an amazing piece of software!

Luminis will have its next show in a couple weeks using pre-programmed keys for the very first time! It’s going to be spectacular — you won’t want to miss it!

Until next post -
Tara
